Thyroid gland surgery and its complications

This instructional course topic is thyroid gland surgery, complications avoidance and management.
Surgical anatomy of thyroid region will be reviewed. Technique of all the steps of thyroid gland surgery will be presented with the main concern on recurrent laryngeal nerve identification. Problematics of parathyroid gland will be stressed.
Complications of thyroid gland surgery will be presented and their management discussed (e.g. unilateral and bilateral recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis).
